Turkish Guney Ladik | 4x7

Hand Knotted Wool on Wool Oriental Rug....This prayer rug was woven in Guney (pronounced "goo-neh") was the site of our highest quality wool foundation (warp and weft) production.  It features a classic Turkish design from Ladik that dates back many centuries.  One of the most noticeable features are tulips that dominate one end of the central field that are classic Ladik.  The pile has had the brown outlines clipped down slightly which give it a wonderful texture and a three dimensional feel.   We were the first to start doing this in the late 70's.  It is meant to replicate the effects of oxidation that is seen in antique rugs where the brown and black dyes were made with iron or aluminum.
